REGION’S FAMILIES SET TO BENEFIT FROM ACTIVE KIDS REBATE

Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli said thousands of school children across the region will benefit from a new $100 rebate for sporting and fitness related costs announced as part of today’s budget.

Mr Piccoli said a 2017-2018 Budget initiative will ensure every family with school aged children will be eligible for the ‘Active Kids Rebate’ with $207 million allocated across four years.

STRAP IN FOR SEATBELT BONANZA

Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli today announced that all regional school buses will have seatbelts four years ahead of schedule, thanks to a $29 million school bus seatbelt blitz in the NSW budget.

Mr Piccoli said all 177 buses in Murray will now have seatbelts because of this commitment.

“This is an important fund that will make sure our kids get to and from school safely,” Mr Piccoli said.

2017 COMMUNITY BUILDING PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM OPENS SOON

Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli is encouraging local councils and not-for-profit groups to apply for funding requests through the 2017 Community Building Partnership (CBP) program.

Mr Piccoli said CBP grants are available annually for community infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes.

“Through the program, the NSW Government ensures funding is available to support organisations that think first-and-foremost about the needs of locals,” Mr Piccoli said.

NSW GOVERNMENT FUNDING FOR LINKING COMMUNITIES EDUCATION VAN

Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli today announced the Linking Communities Education Van as one of the successful applicants of round one of the Domestic and Family Violence Innovation Fund.

Mr Piccoli said the Innovation Fund provides financial investment for projects focusing on prevention, early intervention, and crisis response to reduce domestic and family violence in NSW.

FUNDING BOOST FOR NAIDOC CELEBRATIONS IN HAY

Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli has announced that the Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service Inc. will receive $1,750 from the NSW Government to help fund NAIDOC Week activities including story time sessions with elders and community get-together to celebrate local culture on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River in Hay.

“NAIDOC Week is an important opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the tremendous achievements of Aboriginal people in the community and right across the country,” Mr Piccoli said.

Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli has announced that the Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation will receive $3,000 from the NSW Government to help fund NAIDOC Week activities from 2 - 9 July.

“NAIDOC Week is an important opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the tremendous achievements of Aboriginal people in the community and right across the country,” Mr Piccoli said.
