Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli today announced $30,000 for urgent electrical works on buildings including Woodside Hall at the Griffith Showgrounds.

Mr Piccoli said renovations underway at the Showground revealed the need for new electrical power boards in the Showground buildings to ensure the safety of all users.

“This emergency grant of $30,000 under the Public Reserves Management Fund Program (PRMFP) will fund the essential electrical upgrade needed for the Griffith Showground,” Mr Piccoli said.

The funding is in addition to $323,000 allocated to the Showground Trust in 2016/17 for major works, including renovations to Woodside Hall.

Mr Piccoli said the vital funding through PRMFP has made significant improvements to the site that will benefit the whole community.

“Completion of the internal electrical work will ensure public safety during the annual show in October and the upcoming Riverina Field Days scheduled for May,” Mr Piccoli said.

“These are both important agricultural and trade events which attract more than 200 exhibitors and hundreds of visitors from all over the Riverina region, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.”

Minister for Lands and Forestry Paul Toole said applications for the 2017/18 Public Reserves Management Fund Program close Friday 24 March 2017.

“The NSW Government is committed to supporting the growth of regional economies and helping communities to protect important public assets,” Mr Toole said.
